A Prayer for November

A Prayer for November
Oh God, guide us gently into this new month. As we put away our Halloween decorations and throw away candy wrappers, prepare our hearts for a season of gratitude.
Oh God, as the days get shorter, teach us to find You in the dark. And, as the days grow colder, warm us with your love.
Oh God, guard our hearts against the distractions that steal away our present moments. As we go about our busy days may we pay close attention to the beauty that surrounds us.
Oh God, as we cook the turkey and bake the pies remind us of Your goodness. And as we pile in the car after a full day with family or clean the kitchen with plates stacked high, remind us to find gratitude in the simple and the ordinary.
Oh, God may our gratitude this month be something more than what we say or post on social media–may it be the very posture of our hearts.
Thanks be to God.
